Programmer

The State Office of Risk Management (SORM) is looking for a Programmer who will be responsible for all aspects of software development for both in-house and cloud-based solutions. As a Programmer, you will help us improve workflows, secure data, support and development for client/server and cloud-based applications. You will also be proficient in documenting changes to system functions you support in addition to communicating system details to other members of the Project Management and IT staff. You will assist in the planning, scheduling, and execution of projects. You will perform standardized software development activities during all phases of system development lifecycles (SDLC & Agile). Other work includes analyzing programs against database and stored procedures in MySQL, Microsoft SQL, and analyzing computer applications and providing technical assistance. You will be supporting processes and workflows utilized by our Business Units.

The Texas State Office of Risk Management is administratively attached to the Office of the Attorney General and is governed by a five-member Board. The Office is charged by law to administer insurance services obtained by Texas state agencies, including the self-insured government employees workers’ compensation insurance program and the state risk management programs. Its mission is to enable State of Texas agencies to protect their employees, the general public, and the State’s physical and financial assets by reducing and controlling risk in the most efficient and cost effective manner.
